Hi, it’s time for another blog and this time I thought I’d share some of the most commonly asked questions (and more importantly the answers!), asked by our lovely patients here at tooth dental care in Waterloo.
1. How often should I come in for a dental check-up?
At tooth, we recommend a check-up every six months for most patients, this allows us to spot early signs of decay, gum issues, or oral cancer before they become more serious. If your oral health is stable, recall check-ups are quick and efficient but just as necessary. As always, we’ll tailor the visit to your needs and create a treatment plan that will list any treatments needed (hopefully none!) and of course, everything including all pricing stays completely transparent throughout.
2. Do I really need to see a hygienist if I brush twice a day?
Yes! Professional dental hygiene appointments do more than just polish your teeth. They remove plaque and tartar in hard-to-reach areas and help prevent gum disease. At tooth, our hygiene options range from the Standard Shine (a greta day to day thorough clean), to Standard Plus (which includes advanced air-flow stain removal and interdental cleaning) and our Deluxe Shine (this is our longer, extended, deeper clean and includes the use of air flow too). All are designed to keep your smile fresh and healthy.
3. Are your prices what I’ll actually pay?
Absolutely. Unlike a lot of practices out there, we are firmly committed to honesty and transparency - there are never hidden fees, and no surprise add-ons. After your check-up, you’ll receive a full treatment plan outlining all options and prices clearly. We’re proud to offer high-quality care with super competitive, open pricing.
4. What makes tooth different from other dental practices?
Great question! What truly sets us apart is our relaxed, calm vibe combined with exceptional care. We don’t think dental practices need to be boring and stuffy, so our modern clinics at 45–46 and 26 Lower Marsh (the latter being our tooth specialist dental centre) both boast state-of-the-art equipment, spacious waiting areas, and a team passionate about making dentistry feel comfortable and friendly, not clinical. Additionally, most similar dental practices are now owned by large corporates with shareholders and investors to pay - we are independently and locally owned, and we chase quality patient treatments and experiences rather than profit.
We’re award-winning, with hundreds of five-star reviews and a reputation for genuinely caring service.
5. What do I do if I have dental pain or an emergency?
This one is easy to answer…. Don’t delay, just contact us. We typically offer same-day emergency appointments to diagnose and address your issue quickly. For a modest fee (dental emergency appointments are only £75), you’ll receive clinical assessment, standard X-rays, and a treatment plan or prescription if needed. Getting prompt attention now often prevents more complex and costly treatment later.
Why These Questions Matter
These five questions come from patients just like you, all seeking reassurance, clarity, and a caring environment. At tooth, we’re proud to offer exactly that: clear communication, gentle and modern care, and a team that values your peace of mind.
